Terms and conditions
Last updated 3 September 2026
Dazcam is a purely informational website. Nothing on it is evidence, a finding of fact, a challan, or a judgement against any vehicle or person. By opening, browsing, searching, posting, or otherwise using dazcam.in (the “Site”), you agree to these terms.
1. Agreement
These terms are a binding agreement between you and the operator of the Site (“Dazcam”, “we”, “us”). If you do not agree, do not use the Site. Continued use after we post a change is acceptance of the change. We may update these terms at any time by publishing a new version here.
2. What this Site is
- The Site is a public notebook of unverified notes that members of the public choose to write against an Indian vehicle number, each with a photo or clip we have chosen to host. People also pin pot-holes, request speed breakers, and thank a driver.
- It is provided only for general civic information and discussion.
- We do not run a court, police station, RTO desk, insurer desk, or credit bureau. We do not score drivers. We do not decide guilt.
3. What this Site is not — not evidence
This is the core rule. Read it twice.
- Nothing on the Site — text, category labels, clips, timestamps, screenshots, search results, or support emails — is evidence against any vehicle, registered owner, driver, passenger, or other person.
- You must not tender, cite, annex, or rely on Dazcam content as proof in any FIR, challan, court, tribunal, arbitration, insurance claim, employment decision, tenancy, loan, media story, or private dispute.
- A dashcam file on the Site is a file someone uploaded. Hosting it is not our finding that an offence occurred, that the plate is correct, or that a particular person was driving.
- An empty plate page is not a certificate of good driving. A page with notes is not a conviction.
- Police, courts, insurers, employers, and journalists must use their own lawful process. Dazcam is not that process.
4. No official status
- The Site is not affiliated with the Government of India, any State, RTO, traffic police, court, or insurer unless we say so in writing on this Site — and we do not say so.
- Dazcam does not issue challans, FIRs, penalty points, or licences.
- Support staff who look at a clip are checking whether to host a user file, not sitting as judges.
5. User-generated content
Almost everything you read on a plate page was written or uploaded by a user, not by Dazcam. We do not warrant that any note is true, complete, current, or about the vehicle it names.
- Notes may be false, mistaken, exaggerated, outdated, or posted in bad faith — including by someone about their own plate.
- We have no duty to verify identity, number plate, location, or footage before a note appears.
- Publication on the Site is not endorsement, verification, or a statement of our opinion about the driver.
6. Your promises when you post
If you submit a note, clip, or other material, you promise that:
- you are at least 18 years old;
- you will not post while driving — pull over first; if anyone is in danger, call 112 instead of using this Site;
- you believe the note is a fair account of what you saw, and you will not invent, stage, or knowingly mis-describe an incident;
- you will not name a private individual beyond the vehicle number, and you will not post phone numbers, addresses, caste, religion, medical data, or other sensitive personal data;
- a pot-hole note includes a photo and exact coordinates of the damaged stretch; a speed-breaker request includes coordinates and why it should be placed, with a photo if you have one; a thank-you names a vehicle number and what the driver did — no clip required;
- you attach a photo or short video of the incident with every vehicle note — a note without footage is not accepted, and it is not shown on the plate until we choose to host the file;
- that file is your recording or you have the right to upload it, and it is actual driving footage related to the note — not junk, pornography, violence unrelated to the road, or someone else’s film;
- your post does not defame, harass, blackmail, extort, or incite an offence, and is not meant to fix a commercial, family, or political score;
- you understand that a false note can harm someone and may be unlawful, including under the law of defamation, and that you — not Dazcam — are responsible for what you write.
7. Prohibited use
You must not:
- use the Site as a weapon in a personal dispute, or to threaten, extort, or demand money;
- scrape, bulk-download, or republish the database as a “blacklist” of offenders;
- impersonate the police, an RTO, a lawyer, or Dazcam support;
- present a Dazcam page or screenshot as an official record or as “Dazcam found this person guilty”;
- try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Site, or upload malware;
- use notes to refuse insurance, employment, housing, or credit;
- post about a child, or any sexual content;
- use the Site if you are not legally able to contract.
8. Licence you grant us
You keep whatever copyright you have in your note and clip. You grant Dazcam a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that material on the Site for as long as we choose to keep it, and to make copies needed for backup, security, and legal compliance. You allow us to remove or refuse any material at any time.
9. Intermediary / host
Dazcam hosts third-party content. We are not the author of user notes. To the extent Indian law treats a website as an intermediary for user content, you agree that we may store and transmit that content at your direction when you press post, and that we may act on notices as set out below. Nothing in these terms waives a protection the law gives us, and nothing requires us to monitor every post in real time.
10. Moderation is not a verdict
- We may look at a clip only to decide whether it appears to be driving footage rather than junk, or whether to keep hosting a note. That is not a finding that an offence happened.
- We may keep, hide, mark as disputed, or delete any note, with or without notice, including where we believe the law, safety, or these terms require it.
- We have no obligation to publish your note, to keep it up, or to explain a removal beyond what we choose to say.
11. Disputes and take-down requests
If a note names a plate you care about, write to support@dazcam.in with the plate and why it should come down.
- A dispute email is a request. It is not an automatic delete key, and it is not a trial.
- Where a clip appears to show the incident described, we may keep the note up — including marked as disputed — because removing true footage on demand would let anyone erase the notebook. Keeping it up is still not a judgement by Dazcam.
- Where a clip does not match the note, shows the wrong vehicle, or looks unlawful, we may take the note down.
- A court order or a formal legal notice will be handled as the law requires. That is different from an informal “I dispute this” mail.
- You agree not to treat a take-down, or a refusal to take down, as our statement that you are innocent or guilty.
12. No reliance
You use the Site at your own risk. You agree not to rely on it for safety, navigation, legal rights, insurance, or any decision that affects a person or vehicle. If you do rely on it, that is solely your responsibility.
13. Intellectual property of the Site
The Dazcam name, layout, and our own text and graphics belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy the Site as a product or imply that we certify plates. User notes remain the posters’ content, as above.
14. Privacy in short
We do not ask for your name, phone, or login to post a note. We still process technical data needed to run a website (for example, server logs) and the plate, text, optional city, and clip you submit. submit. Do not put personal data about other people in a note. This section is not a full privacy policy; questions go to support@dazcam.in.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT CONTENT IS ACCURATE, THAT THE SITE WILL BE UP, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DAZCAM AND ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND HOSTING PROVIDERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE LOSS, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFIT, GOODWILL, DATA, OR REPUTATION, ARISING FROM THE SITE OR FROM ANY NOTE OR CLIP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE IS LIMITED TO ONE THOUSAND INDIAN RUPEES (₹1,000) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. YOU HAVE PAID US NOTHING TO USE THE SITE.
Some laws do not allow certain limits. In that case, the limit applies to the fullest extent allowed, and we remain responsible only for what the law says we cannot exclude.
17. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dazcam and its operators from any claim, loss, damage, cost, or legal fee arising out of: (a) your notes, clips, or other submissions; (b) your misuse of the Site; (c) your using Site content as evidence or as a statement of fact about a person or vehicle; (d) your breach of these terms or of law; or (e) your dispute with another user. We may take over defence of a claim; you will cooperate.
18. Release
You release Dazcam from claims arising from user content posted by others, including notes about a plate you own or drive, except where a mandatory law says we cannot ask for that release. This does not stop you from asking us to consider a take-down, and it does not admit that any note is true.
19. Safety
- Do not use the Site while driving.
- If someone is hurt or in danger, call 112.
- The Site does not replace the police, an ambulance, or a lawyer.
20. Suspension
We may block access, delete content, or stop the service at any time, including if we believe you breached these terms or that running the Site has become unlawful or unsafe.
21. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts of competent jurisdiction in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of the Site or these terms, without prejudice to any non-excludable rights you have as a consumer.
22. General
- If one clause is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- These terms are the entire agreement about the Site, and replace earlier oral or written statements about how Dazcam works, except for any separate written contract we sign with you.
- We may assign the Site; you may not assign these terms.
- No waiver is implied by delay. Headings are for reading only.
- These terms do not create a lawyer–client, fiduciary, or employment relationship.
23. Contact
Questions, take-down requests, and legal notices: support@dazcam.in. The Site is operated for users in India at dazcam.in.
These terms describe how we offer the Site and how we limit risk. They are not legal advice to you. If you need advice about a note, a vehicle, or a dispute, instruct your own lawyer. How Dazcam works.
